Look, Listen, Feel
Put your ear next to the victim’s mouth and nose and take five seconds to:
1) Look to see if the victim’s chest rises.2) Listen for breaths.3) Feel for breaths on your face.CPR Fact 1
If the victim gasps when you open the airway to check breathing, continue the steps of CPR. The victim is likely to need all steps of CPR.

Is it possible for HIV to transmit while administering CPR? The spread of infection from the person receiving CPR to the rescuer is very rare. There is no record of HIV being transmitted via CPR.
