Adductor Muscle
Adductor Muscle: Any muscle that causes adduction, (movement of a limb toward the midline of the body) is considered an adductor muscle.
The word "adductor" comes from the Latin prefix "ad" meaning "toward" + "ducere" meaning "to draw or lead" = "to draw toward."
The prefix "ad-" has the opposite meaning to the prefix "ab-". An abductor muscle opposes an adductor muscle and vice-versa. Below is an illustration of other important muscles, tendons and nerves in the leg.
